Bunny Show Jumping: If Denmark Did The Olympics...

Other than shocking the rest of Europe to win the 1992 European football Championships, Denmark’s always been a fairly quiet nation on the sporting front. With a population of only 5.5 million people, that’s perhaps not that much of a surprise. But we think we’ve discovered the Danes’ hidden sporting talent: rabbit show jumping.

Check out this video from the Danish Bunny Show Jumping Championship, sponsored by Carlsberg. (OK, it’s not sponsored by Carlsberg, but it could be…) Extremely cute and the rabbits seem to be enjoying it. What I particularly love is the reaction of the owner in the third clip of the sequence when his beloved bunny jumps the big fence – it’s like he’s won the World Cup!

Bunny show jumping? Probably the best sporting event in the world…

Most Popular Celebrity Pet Sitters

Way back in the history of The Extraordinary Pet Blog (well, January), we revealed the news that former Friends star Jennifer Aniston says she prefers dogs to men. While coincidentally promoting the movie Marley & Me, she was reported to have said that “men come and go but there really is no relationship like the one you have with a dog”. Which is a little harsh on us blokes, Ms Aniston!

Anyway, Jen has now been overwhelmingly voted as the celebrity who Americans would most trust to leave their pets with while away from home. She polled 70% of the vote on a website, and was followed by other animal lovers such as Pamela Anderson, Nicole Richie and Mickey Rourke. The actress is renowned for her devotion to Norman, her corgi-terrier cross-breed. "There's no dog like him”, she’s said. “He's just a person in a furry outfit.” Umm…right…

Jennifer Aniston with dog Norman: Life's a Beach

This got me wondering, as surveys such as this tend to. Which celebrity would I LEAST trust to pet-sit Josie, Jake, Lilly, Harry & Winston while I was on holiday? After a quick straw poll at Extraordinary Towers, we’ve decided we’d rather cancel a holiday than leave any of these three in charge:

> Ozzy Osbourne: he infamously reportedly once bit the head off a bat live on stage
> Freddie Starr: well after the ‘ate my hamster’ headlines all those years ago, you just wouldn’t, would you?!
> Rod Hull: showed a remarkable lack of control over Emu, especially on Parkinson

What about you? Anyone you can think of that you either would or wouldn’t leave your pets with? Leave your thoughts on our Facebook page.
